A most beautiful and memorable day was experienced by all the Funs when you have the combination of favorite food, phenomenal friends and excellent entertainment.
People involved: two families, four parents, five children who have know each other for more than fifteen years.
Entertainment: the amazing Les Miserables, the movie (now I will carry out my promise of arranging a tea party to discuss the movie with some of my friends, that should be a good subject for another blog!)
Food: Fishes cooked in three different ways.
Two pompanos were marinated with Black Bean Paste, scallions and garlic and baked covered at 375F for about 30 minutes. That taken care of, one stove top was used to steam the third pompano. Steaming fish is the quickest and easiest way of cooking a whole fish. All you need to do is to steam it for about 10 minutes, then you sauté some scallions and ginger with olive oil, pour over the steam fish and add Steam Fish Soya Sauce from any Chinese grocery store. I also gave the same treatment to the other two pompanos after they were done baking, by putting the sautéed scallions and ginger on.
The last dish was two slightly salted red snappers pan fried, then braised in a combination of soya sauce, Hoisin sauce and wine. Again, some scallions, ginger and cilantro were added to make it more flavorful.
I still cannot tell whether I am more stimulated on my taste buds or my other senses because of the powerful lyrics and the unforgettable images of the movie. One thing I know, this day was made so much more meaningful because I share it with my friends.
“God on high, hear my prayers,
In my need, you have always been there…… “
Thank God for these powerful lyrics being sung everyday lately throughout theatres around the world – Thank God for Colm Wilkinson - Thank God for Hugh Jackman –
Thank God for Jean Valjean!
YES to all of that! Thanks for the post, Mrs. Fung :)
ReplyDeleteThank God for Victor Hugo! He did a wonderful and timeless job of capturing God's love, forgiveness and redemption in a realistic story of sinners.
